NASEO Energy Equity Taskforce Meeting (Open to all registered NASEO State, Territory, and Affiliate Members)

NASEO’s Energy Equity Taskforce explores strategies to advance equitable and inclusive energy and climate policies and programs, and recently convened a hands-on meeting exploring the processes that effectively engage communities on the front lines of economic and environmental injustice. The Taskforce is poised to take its next step by inviting State and Territory Energy Offices to undertake self-assessment exercises, explore opportunities to thoughtfully engage stakeholders, design programs and policies with equity in mind, and deliver recommendations for ways that NASEO can better incorporate equity in its mission and operations. During this session, NASEO State, Territory, and Affiliate members will review the “spectrum of community engagement,” explore what community engagement looks like, and learn about the Taskforce’s work in the coming year. This session will also ask State and Territory Energy Offices to consider joining the Taskforce’s leadership team and committing to set goals and implement equity-driven changes to their office’s programs and policies. The full agenda for the Energy Equity Taskforce meeting can be found here.

Public Facility Retrofits and Resilience: ESPC Fundamentals and Resilience Opportunities for Mission Critical Facilities (Open to all registered NASEO State, Territory, and Affiliate Members)

As states and communities prepare for various natural disasters, they are increasingly turning toward financing methods to help them advance resiliency in their critical energy infrastructure and mission critical facilities. Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC) is one tool that has a proven track record of making energy efficiency infrastructure upgrades and can also be tapped to support resilience improvements.  This roundtable format workshop explores the fundamentals of ESPC programs and projects, identifies tools and opportunities to better track and verify project performance, offers ideas for combining ESPC and resilience measures to support mission critical facilities, and discusses the potential of using Disaster Recovery Reform Act funds to leverage public facility resilience.
